So You’re
First Class. Now What?
First
Class Scouts have mastered all the basic skills in Scouting, and are
eligible for leadership positions and high adventure trips. While they were
under close supervision from Tenderfoot
through First Class, they're usually left
on their own after that. As advanced
as they are, many flounder in personal advancement until they can get their bearings
straight.
For Star,
a Scout needs seven merit badges. The emphasis will be on:
The additional three badges
are the Scout's choice. Please note that we are emphasizing these five badges,
but not requiring them for Star. If a Scout has
the opportunity or desire to work
on something else he may. These five happen to be the most logical to start with.
Usually Scouts wait until they
are Life Scout to work toward Family Life and Personal
Management merit badges although there is no steadfast
rule. The following badges are offered
